Hello! Let's see how blogging goes with each order. No promises that I will keep up with it, haha. And I wont bore you with my life, it's not entertaining. I will try to explain my processes of what I do and perhaps share some tidbits. If this becomes long, I am so sorry in advanced.
This order was for my friend for her son's first birthday. The theme was Mr. One-derful. My friend sent me photos of what she wanted and how the theme was going to go. Originally, the cookies were gold and black.
Now, nothing I love more than a gold and black color scheme. BUT what many people do not know is that black food coloring STAINS. Found out that hard way about eight years ago. I always present this information at the very beginning. Some people are okay with it, some are not and thank me for letting them know. I would be horrified AND mortified if I didn't tell the client about this. Whenever I see a video with black frosting, I just want to say "TELL PEOPLE WHAT IT DOES TO THEIR MOUTH!!!!". Haha oh well.
Anywho, my friend thanked me and switched the colors to silver and gold. (Silver and goldddd). Simple, yes. but also no. Unfortunately, you cannot get a pure silver and gold color from food coloring. It will be more on the yellow-ish and grey side. If you want that shine, edible luster dust is needed. That is where the no in simple comes in.
There are many ways to do this and it is with preference. What I did was pipe everything in white first, let dry, then paint over with the luster dust. Very tedious but the results do come out pretty cool. You can either paint the luster dust dry or wet. I prefer wet and i use vodka. Don't worry, the alcohol evaporates. You could use clear extract as well. Never tried that yet.

After the first round of painting, I personally was not a fan of how it turned out. So I did a second round and once dry, I was very pleases. I am still looking for a gold luster dust out there that is pure gold shine to me.
Along with the cookies, I was asked to make a #1 pull-apart cupcake cake. I love making cupcakes and love making them into a "cake". It's so cute and fun, I don't know why I love it so much! The cupcakes were half vanilla and half chocolate with vanilla buttercream.
Welp, that is about it for this order! I am always honored to be thought of during party planning, so I take each order and theme to heart. I put everything I have into making these creations be everything that the client wants!!
